Black History Month
Throughout October, North Riding FA joins the world in celebrating Black History Month.
Black History Month provides an opportunity to not only campaign for equality and inclusion in our game, but to celebrate the incredible – and invaluable – contribution of members of the black community to the game of football.
A huge amount of work, dedication and effort has gone into combating racism and discrimination in the game. Over the past fifty years, while we have undoubtedly witnessed some of the lowest moments that black players and coaches have been forced to endure, we have also seen sizable progress.
The fight against racism in football is far from over. We will continue to support the incredible work of Kick It Out and Show Racism the Red Card, being done in partnership with the FA.
However, we will also use Black History Month to celebrate some of the individuals from the black community that are creating a hugely positive impact within the game in North Riding, and allow them to tell their own stories…
