North Riding FA Announces Partnership with Alzheimer's Society North Yorkshire
North Riding County Football Association names Alzheimer’s Society North Yorkshire as its official charity partner for the 2018/19 season
North Riding County Football Association is delighted to announce that it has selected Alzheimer’s Society North Yorkshire as its official charity partner for the 2018/19 season, with the local charity set to benefit from the Association’s fundraising initiatives in the coming months.
Alzheimer’s Society is the United Kingdom’s leading dementia charity, and with over 11,000 people living with dementia in North Yorkshire alone, North Riding FA is looking forward to raising money to help ensure that Alzheimer’s Society North Yorkshire are on hand to support those people.
North Riding FA would like to extend a warm thanks to Saint Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough for their partnership last season. This successful charity partnership resulted in over £2,000 being raised for the Hospice. Fundraising events that took place throughout the football calendar included a Footgolf Day, a Crazy Hair Day and a Santa Dash, among others.
This year, North Riding FA aims to raise another great sum through some even more creative fundraising ideas, with a Memory Walk already planned for Autumn, along with December’s Elf Day and a second Footgolf Day in Spring 2019.
Alongside fundraising events, North Riding FA’s staff will be taking part in dementia-friendly sessions, so as to better understand the needs of people with dementia and ensure that members of the team can provide as much support and respect as possible.
Leah Bull, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society North Yorkshire, said: “We are extremely grateful to North Riding FA for their support of Alzheimer’s Society. We’re facing an incredible challenge; one person every three minutes develops dementia and there is no cure. We’re here to change that, but we need more people like North Riding FA to join us as we take on dementia together.”
Steven Wade, Chief Executive Officer of North Riding FA, added: “We are excited to work with another local charity partner who supports our communities. Dementia affects thousands of people across our county and we are looking forward to getting involved in as many activities as possible to spread awareness and raise some funds for this fantastic charity.”
