NE & Yorkshire Disability Clinch Cup
North East & Yorkshire Disability FC win the Cerebral Palsy final for a second successive year.
Everybody at North Riding FA would like to congratulate all involved with North East & Yorkshire Disability Football Club, who won the Cerebral Palsy final at last weekend’s FA Disability Cup Finals at St. George’s Park.
On Sunday 12 June, the second day of finals to be hosted at the home of England’s teams, North East & Yorkshire took on CP North West – and what a game it was to get the day’s football underway.
North East & Yorkshire went into the game looking to defend the title, and took control of the final, the first goal coming after a breakaway finish followed by a second aided by a CP North West defensive mix-up. However, CP North West levelled just before half-time. With one of two quick-fire penalties converted, scorer Jaydon Kenyon doubled his tally soon after scoring from the spot to ensure the first half finished 2-2.
Both teams scored another two goals each in the second half, sending the final to a penalty shootout. It was Ethan Day’s penalty that secured a 5-4 victory in the shootout to ensure that North East & Yorkshire lifted the trophy for a second successive year.
