Choose Respect

Anti-Bullying Week 2024

Join us in our support of Anti-Bullying Week.

11-15 November is Anti-Bullying Week, and North Riding FA is proud to be supporting this important week of awareness.

The theme for this year’s Anti-Bulling Week is ‘Choose Respect’, a theme that matches strongly with many of the key messages we continue to share with our leagues and clubs to promote a positive, encouraging environment for all.

We’re asking everyone to ‘Choose Respect’ and strongly recommend that you click here to download The FA Grassroots Code. This can help children understand how they should behave while at football, through giving respect and being inclusive.

To all our clubs, please take time during Anti-Bullying Week to revisit and reinforce the Grassroots Code with youth players, and emphasise the importance of kindness and acceptance.

Why not invite players to train in odd socks this week, to become part of the Anti-Bullying Week conversation.

Alongside this, clubs can get involved by sharing the parent/carer anti-bullying resources, available below, and leading by example.

Martha Evans, Director of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, said: “This Anti-Bullying Week, we want to empower children and young people to not resort to bullying, even when we disagree and remind adults to lead by example on and off the football pitch.

“Supporting Anti-Bullying Week is one of the many ways football can raise awareness of safeguarding, and help to create a healthy culture where children give respect and embrace difference.

The FA’s Head of Safeguarding, Sue Ravenclaw, added: “Wearing odd socks at training is a great way to support this year’s Anti-Bullying Week in your club, building conversations with and between players, parents/carers, and club officials.
