As a player, goalkeeper Andy began his career at Middlesbrough, making his first-team debut in 1992. However, it was during five years at Bristol Rovers and a further five at Darlington that the Stockton-born stopper enjoyed the most action as a player, making over 100 league appearances for both.

After retiring from playing in 2004, Andy moved into coaching and is still very much involved in coaching today. Starting his coaching as goalkeeper coach at Darlington, Andy has also been in the position at Oldham Athletic, Hartlepool United, and York City.

Today, Andy runs his own coaching academy in Teesside.

In Episode 2 of Touchline Talk, which is produced by ROAR Sports, Andy discusses his experiences at a player at numerous levels, which included working with a young Kasper Schmeichel during their collaborative time at Darlington, before talking about the transition from player to coach and his experiences/observations of coaching at all levels.
