North Riding Development Programme 2024/25

Following a full review of our current North Riding County FA Development Programme, we are delighted to announce that from Season 24/25 we will be offering more groups for our match officials to be involved in to improve their development and on field performance.

The new Development Programme, aligned with our North Riding FA Referee Strategy, aims to give a greater development offer for all referees, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, age, ability, and background.

This new programme will consist of 4 groups: our Centre of Referee Excellence (CORE), The Development Group, The Women’s Development Group, and The BAME Development Group.

It is hoped that the latter three groups, which are brand new, will add an extra layer of support to help our match officials improve both on and off the field.

Due to the amount of time, effort and financial commitment we invest into all of our programmes, we have minimum expectations which are to be met by all of our officials which will be monitored throughout the season. These expectations include:

  • Commitment to attend all sessions and actively participate
  • Prepared to travel around the County FA for Training Camps/meetings and development opportunities
  • Exceptional administration in a timely manner
  • Show continual progression within refereeing career
  • Regular contact with the Referees Department and positive engagement at Training Camps/meetings
  • Commitment to purchasing NRCFA Nike branded leisure kit to be worn at Training Camps/meetings

With all of the above in mind, please find below the criteria and application process for 2024/25:

  • MUST be a 2024/25 NRCFA Promotion Progression Scheme Applicant (Level 7, 6, 5, Youth Referee or 4W /3W candidate) and applied by Midnight on 31 July 2024
  • Or 16, 17 or 18 Years of age and committed to transitioning into adult football and applying for promotion within the next 12 month
  • Completed Referee Registration for 2024/25 before applying
  • Can commit to attend and participate in Training Camps/meetings on a regular basis as detailed above, both face to face and online
  • Prepared to travel around the County FA for Training Camps/meetings and match appointments as part of the NRCFA development programme
  • Level 5-4 applicants MUST successfully pass FA Level 4 Nomination fitness test by the end of October 2024
  • Purchase the NRCFA Nike branded leisure kit

If you believe you can meet the NRCFA development programme 2024/25 requirements for one of our 4 groups and the criteria, please contact Conor Ledgeway (Conor.Ledgeway@northridingfa.com).

Group numbers will be finalised by the 31st July with successful applicants being told via email at the start of August. All programmes will then commence from the start of September 2024

Given the number of applications that we expect to receive, we may not be able to accept every applicant for each group. We fully expect opportunities to become available as the season develops and will regularly review and monitor those candidates who are a part of the programme.

In the meantime, if you require any further information, or would like to discuss this further, please contact Conor Ledgeway, our Referee Development Officer for an informal chat.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity and we wish those of you who are interested the very best of luck with your application.
