Heading Guideance

Heading in U7-U9 Football

North Riding FA is pleased to announce a new partnership with Head Safe Football, a UK charity raising awareness of repetitive head impacts (RHI) and the lasting effect heading has on footballers.

In light of the recent new FA rules around reducing heading in the younger age football, we think it is important all stakeholders understand why this change is being implemented. Head Safe can offer information and share their personal experience of the long term effects of repetitive heading.

Head Safe Football charity provides research and education, and support to families. Designed to protect the future of the game, Head Safe Football educates players, coaches, sports scientists, and parents to use common sense Head Safe Football policies and reduce heading in training.

Head Safe and North Riding are not looking to eliminate heading from the game, rather educate the providers on how to reduce the risk of too many repetitive head impacts to children to safeguard their future – which we are sure you will find interesting.
