Grab Your Rainbow Laces and Support Stonewall's Campaign
MAKE FOOTBALL EVERYONE’S GAME
North Riding FA is proud to be working alongside the York Minster League to encourage clubs to sign up for this year’s Rainbow Laces campaign and show that football really is For All.
Football has an amazing power to bring people together, but 4 in 10 LGBT people don’t feel that sport is welcoming. That’s why we need you to play your part and help make football everyone’s game.
We encourage all players, coaches, referees, volunteers and parents in North Riding to challenge anti-LGBT language, celebrate LGBT people in sport and wear Rainbow Laces to show you care.
Teams who have already signed up will receive their Rainbow Laces shortly, and all clubs are encouraged to access The FA’s activation pack below, which will help to ensure you’re doing everything possible to get the most out of The FA’s assets for your campaign.

The day of activation in North Riding is Saturday 23 November – and here’s how you can show your support:
• Wear Rainbow Laces and armbands on the pitch
• Ask players to take photos/videos and share on social media using #RainbowLaces
• Encourage players to report abuse to your club and County FA
Andy Clay, North Riding FA Football Development Manager, said: “Equality and inclusion is hugely important to us at North Riding FA and we’re passionate about supporting everyone involved in the grassroots game across our county.
“Our ‘North Riding Welcomes’ banner remains a key vehicle of this message and we’re proud to be supporting Rainbow Laces alongside our clubs to enforce the message that football really is everyone’s game. I encourage all clubs to step up, get involved and support LGBT equality in football.”
Ian Holdsworth, Co-Chair of the York LGBT Forum, added: “This is such a great opportunity to improve not only equality and inclusion but also the health and wellbeing of the LGBT+ community. Thank you all so much!”
